Engineering company more than doubles revenue, predicts bright future

2:46 PM Dec. 12, 2001

by Andrew Dietderich Revenue for Southfield-based Engineering Solid Solutions Inc. has more than doubled to $7 million this year from $3 million last year.

President Fred Karam said Engineering Solid Solutions expects revenue of between $10 million and $15 million in fiscal 2002. He announced the expectations last week. The company's fiscal year ended Sept. 30.

“The biggest reason we’ve been successful is because our business plan is very diverse,” Karam told Michigan.CrainTech.com. “We have a lot of automotive and nonautomotive clients.”

Customers include Ingersoll-Rand Co. (NYSE: IR), Siemens Automotive Corp., ArvinMeritor Inc. (NYSE: ARM), Deere & Co. (NYSE: DE) and Mack Trucks Inc.

Engineering Solid Solutions, which provides mechanical design and analysis, has 63 employees. Forty have been hired since May.

Karam, who founded Engineering Solid Solutions in 1994, said the company is so busy that it’s running 12-hour shifts daily.
